I wrote a Public Intellectual Article to see how the issues from the 18th century can be connected to a contemporary source. Intellectually parsing between a play and a television show is what allowed me to have the skill to write an article that talks profoundly (in an amusing fashion!) about the implications of prostitution and its meaning then and today.
This article discusses the idea of prostitution in the play, Mrs. Warren’s Profession by Bernard Shaw, and links it to a contemporary point of view, Gilmore Girls. Specifically, the connotations of prostitution from the 18th century to today being explored in the modern 2023 sense – is the link between comparing and contrasting the two forms of media.
